Downloaded the "Get More" items - Now What

Last night I discovered that the installation on my Desktop is different from the installation on my laptop. Both installed from the same set up file. On both I have all installed ALL of the get more stuff that was offered.

On the Desktop in VS 2010 Express I can see 6 wedding templates.
On the Laptop only 1 wedding template.

I have compared the contents of both installations and I have even discovered where those "get more" extra's are being downloaded to. To save duplicating another post - please click here:

Still, how many DVD/BR menu templates do you have?

Can somebody tell me what was in the mind of some managers at Corel when they thought about the Get More feature ???
Why not just a simple set of download links on their website ?
If they really wanted to make it available to real customers only, it would just needed to acces the we page with a password access, maybe the same as the product serial number... so difficult ???

They don't even need to do that, The DVD Templates ONLY work on VSX3 so would be useless to anyone using anything else.

Well I'm not correct on this... It wasn't until I was uninstalling the program that I recalled there is a feature called Instant Project. You access it by clicking the icon that looks like a Magic Wand, at the top of the timeline. When you open the Instant Project, there are the Get More templates. I compared my new install of VS X3 on my Laptop to my desktop that I had not uninstalled.

Instant Project is much like the Movie Wizard in previous versions..

I had forgotten about that one also due to concentrating on finding the missing (Wedding) Templates. Just checked my laptop and..... using instant project still only ONE wedding template. Grrr

(It's not that I particularly want to use one, it's a case of if those are missing, what else is missing?)





Best of all - both the above screen shots were taken from my laptop computer. The first screen shot was by running the VSX3 installation that is on the laptop. The second screen shot was obtained by running VSX3 that is installed on the desktop by accessing it over my home network.

I have spent several hours cross checking the various directories looking for any differences between the two installations, I have searched both computers for all *.UFO files and cannot find the missing wedding menu images on EITHER computer - which is extremely strange. They are normally located at
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X3\Content\Menu Template.

I even deleted the directory
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\13.0
Thus forcing a rebuild.

When I located the "Get more" set up files
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Corel\Downloads
I cross checked all the sub-directories and copied any missing one's over to the laptop and ran the relevant exe file e.g.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Corel\Downloads\540228697_307033\1254516308077\GetMore_Title_05.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Corel\Downloads\540228697_307033\1254516308111\GetMore_Filter_01.exe


also...
E:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Corel\Downloads\540228697_517034\1260820723455\IncentivesSetup.exe

In fact I just double checked by installing them all again whilst creating this post. Still not there.

I even checked the Windows Registry for any clues
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\VS Pro\Version13
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Corel\VS Pro\Version13

I have been as thorough and methodical as I can and the only word that springs to mind is "stumped."

Still no sign of the absent templates.

I went through both my laptop and desktop.... No Wedding Project Templates. I should have it on my desktop, but it's not there. The only categories I have are:

• Fun; which has 6 templates
• HD-Fun; which has 5 templates
• Simple; having 4 templates
• HD-Simple; having 4 templates
• SlideShow; having 24 templates
• HD SlideShow; having 10 templates
• HD Project; having 11 templates

I'm now in my waiting period on my laptop. I could just reinstall everything, since I backed up all the downloaded Style and title packs, however I want to see if this time I'll get the Wedding templates..

No Wedding category at all...

So what happens if the burn module is changed?

All these menu template goodies become moot?

These templates are not DVD Menu templates, they are Instant Project templates. So they should still be there. I don't know what would be planned for the DVD Menus.

I had the extra content for my non trial version after three days and downloaded and installed everything. I restarted and I have not got any extras. In fact I have a lot less that I had in x2 so where did it all install to. I had this problem in either version 9 or 10 where nothing would install to the program and I had to find it and import it manually.

The transition effects are very slim on the ground for example, I have 1 album effect and one flashback.
In DVD factory I have just 8 fun templates and 5 Legacy ones. Oh and Paint Shop Photo downloaded and the Install box keeps popping up but wont install.

I have upgraded since version 4 and every time there seems to be major problems. It¡¦s a fantastic program when working and everything is in place but it¡¦s getting everything in place is the problem. I think this will be my last upgrade and I may even go for my 30 day refund. I only upgraded so soon after x2 as the trial seem to work better with AVCHD but it now crashes at about 80% when rendering back to this format, but this is for another Topic.

Please see the top Announcement on this Board where I have posted download links for all the 'Get More' packs available to date. Corel has authorised the posting of those links.

I don't have any wedding templates. I wonder if you got those from being in the beta program? In any case if you find those templates I'd like to have them too... Al

Edit: I wonder if we need to delete some ini file to get X3 to rescan the content?

You could have a point. I have just checked my DVD Factory 2010 templates, and don't have any wedding templates either -- unless you count the one under Legacy which has white roses and falling snowflakes... I was a beta tester, but have totally reformatted my computer with an installation of Windows 7 since those days. In other words, I had a virgin computer with no Beta leftovers... I have also installed all the available Get More Packs, yet only seem to have 8 'Fun' templates and 5 'Legacy' ones available. Haven't yet installed the Registration Bonus Pack, which is supposed to contain more templates -- perhaps the wedding one(s)...?

No - been there tried that didn't do anything. It has been reported to Corel
You might have a point though about the wedding templates being "leftovers" from Beta testing, I just looked at the screen shots by Accolades

I hate to sound more dense than usual, but where on earth do you find the Instant Project page in the photos above? I cannot for the life of me find it in either DVD Factory 2010 or VS Express 2010...

There is a lot of new stuff in VSX3 but unfortunately all of our attention seems to be centred on the awful authoring stage and also the elusive "get more button". so we tend to forget about all the good stuff!
