New Installation GIF-X Plugin.2
New Installation GIF-X Plugin.2
I have purchased and downloaded GIF-X Plugin.2. I cannot register it because I can't find the Program to open it. I have located the folder but there is no .exe file to open it, or anything that resembles the actual program.
I use PSP and even though I uninstalled the trial version of GIF-X, when I try to use it in PSP, an error message appears that the trial period has expired.
I am not usually so thick computer-wise, LOL, but this has me beat.
I have been trying to get this going for several hours and am at my wits end.
I hope someone can help me please.
Thanks.

GIF-X 2 isn't a program, it's a filter. It has an extension of .8bf.
Not knowing what you may have done differently installing the paid version versus the trial makes it hard to solve this completely...
See this thread for some possible ideas:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=15134
You may have to uninstall again, then make sure you remove all copies of AniGif2.8bf, including looking in your PSP folders. Then remove the C:\Program Files\Ulead GIF-X.Plugin 2.0\ folder.
Install again, being very careful when it asks for the plug-ins folder to use. Refer to that post I provided the link to.

Thanks for your response. I have uninstalled a dozen times now, done all that you suggested. I keep all my Plugins in one folder, away from any Programs and I have never had problems before. I was up until 3 am trying to fix this, uninstalling and re-installing but it still insists on telling me the trial period is over.
At least I was able to make a note of the Serial Number as it was installing, so I registered it and then wrote to Ulead Support a few hours ago.
I was certain the trial version used to open separately on its own, like GIF Animator 5. And that's another thing, I can't get that to show up in PSP either. I bought that a while ago but only used it once when I was doing a PSP Tutorial, so I am not very au fait with it. I would like to start using it now and have only just registered it. Slack I know.
In one of my efforts I added GIF-X to GIF Animator 5 as you described in the other link. That hasn't done any good either. It doesn't show up in that Program.
In PSP I get the Trial Expired message and when I quit that, another message appears saying "Unable to load AniGif2.dll". That dll file is in my Plugins folder. Should it be anywhere else?
So here I am 24 hours later with a project I need to do using the 3D Map Effect in the next 7 hours. The only 3D that shows up in GIF Animator 5 is Gate-3D which came with the Program.
I appreciate your response and hope that Ulead Technical Support are able to get back to me with a solution very shortly. This one really has me stumped, so if you have any other suggestions whilst I wait for their response, I would love to hear them.
Many thanks.

GIF-X 2 is found in GA 5 by clicking "Filter," not Video F/X. It would appear in the Filters list under "Ulead Effects."
If you keep all your plugins in one folder, did you choose that folder when you installed GIF-X 2? Or did you click the "Ignore" button during installation?
To have GIF Animator load GIF-X 2 when GA starts, you must first add it to the filters list, such as below:

In your case, you would choose the folder you have put all your filters in.
If you still get the message that the trial period is over, then you missed the important step I mentioned earlier - remove all copies of AniGif2.8bf from your computer, then install the paid version. Do a search in Windows for AniGif2.8bf to find them all. When you try to use it, your program is still pointing to the trial one.
However. Instead of doing things your way, I would recommend following carefully the installation instructions for GIF-X 2. Reinstall it, but when it gets to the section where you choose the plugin folder, click "Ignore," then follow the instructions in the thread I mentioned earlier. If you don't, then it's not likely going to work...

Thanks Robert.
1. Yes I was choosing Filter and not Video F/X. It's showing my filters now, including GIF-X.Plugin 2 but they are greyed out. I have taken a screen shot but don't know how to show it here.
2. Yes I did choose my Plugins Folder when I installed GIF-X.Plugin 2. I did add it to my Filters List in Gif Animator 5. Again, I don't know how to show you the screenshot.
3. I thought I had deleted all the AniGif2.8bf files but at present I am searching all my drives for it. I have two internal and two external hard drives.
4. I have uninstalled GIF-X.Plugin2 again while searching for the 8bf files so I can delete them and will then re-install.
5. When I come to re-installing it, yes I will choose Ignore, thank you. I have installed it both ways but will do it this way again after ensuring all the AniGif2.8bf files have been removed. The search will take a long time because they are all big drives but I wanted to reply in case I can't get back to you for awhile.
I have not yet heard back from Ulead Technical Support but they did send me an acknowledgment and a discount coupon.
I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks again.

OK I give in. Nothing has ever beat me before. I have usually managed to work it out.
I found two instances of the AniGif2.8bf file, one in the main Plugins Folder and one the sub-folder for GIF-X.Plugin2. I delete them then re-installed GIF-X.Plugin.
The filter shows up in GIF Animator 5 and also in Paint Shop Pro but in each one when I go to use them I get "Trial Period Over". I click Quit then the pop-up says "Unable to Load AniGif2.dll".
I felt really sure it was going to work OK this time.
Any clues about the dll file please?

I finally received a new file from Ulead late last night (I am in Australia).
I uninstalled everything, deleted the .8bf files, installed it again (for the 100th time, LOL). Was all excited then .... it didn't work, still saying Trial period had ended. Ugh!
I mentioned before that, after clicking Quit, a message popped up saying that anigif2.dll could not load. I told this to Tech Support too but they didn't comment. So I decided to search for this .dll file and found two occurrences of it which I duly deleted.
Uninstalled again, deleted files, installed again and hey presto! It worked.
If only I tried this in the first place.
Many thanks again for all your suggestions. I have learned a lot.
