Is it possible release a x6 hotfix for my mum?

She installed x6 and x7, and I updated her windows7 with latest updates, then she found x6 and x7 stop working.

I found there is a hotfix for x7, I installed that, it worked! But there is no hotfix for x6.

I think the x7 hotfix would fix x6, but I can't extract content of it, so .

Sorry but Corel are not intending to provide a fix for any versions earlier than X7.

The problem as you are aware was Windows updates, these could be uninstalled which would get X6 working, but you are also uninstalling any security that the updates provided.

You could get X6 working to allow you to extract the files you need, then re-apply Windows Updates. That would of course disable the X6 program.

I have extracted content of x7 hotfix, it's a MUIhelper.dll

Replaced x6 old file, it worked, but maybe I lost translation function, it always use English language.

I have tried your fix using X7 MUIhelper.dll version file for X6 and X5 both now launch ok.

By the way Corel are offering X9 at a very low price, check the popup adverts when you close X6

Funny I had to launch X6 twice to see this special offer. The first time the price was $99 while the second time the price was $15. I'm going to try launching X6 again and see if it's free

I execute X7 hotfix via cmd, with /extract_all argument

then you will get some files, one of them is data.cab, you need the installshied tools, which can help you extract files in data.cab

Sorry to be such a dope, but when I extract using command line, I get the same error. "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate". I only have VSX5 currently installed. Would it at all be possible to attach the appropriate MUIhelper.dll file or email it? Thanks in advance.

download and unzip the attached file to get the .dll file

I would strongly advise that first you rename the existing MUIHelper.dll file in your X5 program files to MUIHelper_old.dll (just in case we have a problem and you need to revert)

copy the file from my download into the X5 program folder and try to open X5

New member here. Still using X4, and I've been searching the responses in this forum to keep it running. Been hiding the listed security updates, but it stopped working again after another Windows update last week. Just wanted to say that following the procedure with the .dll file in this thread got it working again! Thank you! Perhaps this could be added to the pinned post about the hotfixes? Now that I can get back into the program, I need to decide whether I want to upgrade to X9 since it's being offered at such a discounted price...

The popup window offering X9 for $14.99 came up as soon as I closed the program. Not sure if there's a way to get it if it doesn't come up automatically? Would be interested in the answer in case it doesn't show up again.

I don't think there is a way to get it if you do not get that offer again - seize the chance while you can - it won't last for ever any rate
