VideoStudio Pro X7 won't install

Post by armavista »

Hi,

I'm trying to install the trial version of VideoStudio Pro X7 x64. I uninstalled VideoStudio X6 first.

Actually, the install process stops at the beginning, it says there is an error (no more info).
When i try to install it in safe mode with networking, the install process stops a bit further.

Could you help me? I also tried to disable the antivirus and firewall...

I use Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Intel i7 2600K.

Thanks!!!

There was no need to uninstall X6. All versions of Video Studio install as independent programs, and a few of us maintain several versions on the same computer in order to be able to help out here!

It seems to me that your download of the trial version might have been corrupt somehow or other. Have you tried downloading another copy?

I’m experiencing exactly the same as armavista - also on a Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit machine.

I tried both the x32 and x64 version of Videostudio, but in both cases I got this error message:

Installation Wizard not completed.
Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click Finish to exit the wizard

I then tried installing in Safe mode (with & without the “Safe Mode Install Services.zip”), to no avail. Same error message albeit a few seconds later.

I even tested it with all browser-add-ons removed. No luck there either.

Then I took the x32 installation files, copied them to an older Vista machine, and voila. Installation ran without a glitch.

So it had nothing to do with the installation files being corrupt.

Can anyone recommend a good program that can log the installation process - To find out where Videostudio goes wrong?

I could not have explained better the issue. I used the previous versions without any problem.
I hope someone could help us out.
Thanks!

I have to confess that I too have had problems with the installation of both X6 and X7 on both my Win 8.1 and Win 7 64 bit machines, though they eventually installed on both. But I didn't get that particular message. Instead, always at 35% of the installation being complete, I got the message that "Protexis Licensing X64 could not be activated -- Abort, Retry, Skip". Retry and Skip simply brought back the message and in the end I had to abort. If I tried again, I got the same message at the same point. I understand that this is frustrating since the installation process is so slow anyway, and aborting takes about the same time as it took to get to 35%... (Note that Protexis is a controversial addition made to VS several versions ago. It runs in the background of all Corel programs periodically checking that the program is valid. I have no idea why I get this problem as no one else has reported it, IIRC.)

But in each case, if I rebooted and tried installing before opening any other program, the installation would go smoothly and successfully.

I guess that's a long way of asking if you tried rebooting? The only other solution which works for some having a similar difficulty as you with previous versions is to create a new Windows profile, making sure it allows access by all users, and then install VS in that Profile. If that works, you can (usually) later delete the new Profile and VS should still be available under your original Profile.

Been there, done that (Boot/Profile) alas no luck.

I’ve been using and recommending Videostudio for more than a decade, but lately the latter seems an increasingly hard sell.

This type of problem always reminds me of an old joke that goes something like this:

Bill Gates was walking down the street when he was hit by a falling tile. He went to the police station to complain, but after an extremely detailed questioning, the policeman said: Well dear Mr. Gates, this seems to be a random incident. We have no report of anyone else experiencing the same incident at that place at that specific time; so for the moment we’re unfortunately unable to assist you. If however it happens again, please take a note of: Time and date, if it rained, if you walked fast or slow, if you talked on your mobile at the time and if you carried your wallet in your left or your right pocket. If we have all this information next time, we may possibly be able to help you.

So here’s one, Corel: Please don’t aspire to surpass Bill Gates and please fix this installer-error.

unfortunately no one from Corel will ever see your little story or your comment - they do not come here.

You may like to try posting it here :- https://www.facebook.com/corelsupportle ... ts&fref=ts

they do sometimes respond there.

By 'everything', do you mean you also tried the new Profile route suggested above?

Armavista, VSPX7,

You might be able to use the program call "procmon." It is part of the excellent "SysInternals" collection. The program is free and can be downloaded from Microsoft. It allows you to monitor all registry and file accesses (and more). It has filtering so you can easily sort through the "noise." It can be found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96645.aspx.
Hope this helps.

I also am having trouble with VS7.0 64bit; Have installed both versions without any problems, but neither 64 or 32bit will start .
I get this error message prompt popup ----vstudio.exe - Application Error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).
click OK to close the application.

Have not took time yet to dig deep into why they won't startup and run,but with past corel and ulead have never had this kind of problem.
Useing Win 7 64bit (any suggestions will be appreciated.) THANKS

I realized after i completed my previous post that my comments were not complete. I installed each trial version, one at a time .
I uninstalled each one before installing the other.
They would install complete, without any problems but I got the error message when trying to start-up the program.

Hi

Very strange, and no idea why you should be having a problem??

When you run the installation .exe file it extracts the installation files to :-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files

I do not know if subsequent install attempts overwrites these file, It may be that they are corrupt? so first delete or re-name this folder called Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files.

Then run the downloaded file again using Administrator rights, (right click the file and choose Run as Admin)
A new set of installation files will be created and used to install the program.

rjkok67
To run the program try right clicking the desktop icon and “run as admin”

Is your pc windows upto date, check your auto updates are current?

Thanks for your reply's Guys.

Yes,after my 1st attempt and failures to startup VS 7, i thought i'd better do the win update.
I have even downloaded the trials again and tried installing in default location instead of my spare H.D.
where I normally install alot of software and the end result is still ---vstudio.exe - Application Error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).
click OK to close the application.

So i'll just have to wait it out and maybe one day hit on a fix either with my system or Corel's.
I'm useing VS 5.O PRO it's been good to me for now, so thanks again.
I'll keep an eye on the forum Though
