capturing in VS6 problem

Hi

I am also new to video editing, i have a canon Digital video camera, and have started to capture my video tapes onto VS6. I am using the DVD format (MPEG-2) however the number of drop out frames is approx. 10%!! i have a P4 3.0 computer with adequate RAM etc. and am confused.

Am i doing anything wrong, how can i improve the capture rate?
