What's In The Retail Box?

Post by jhgustaf »

If I buy the retail VS 9.0 boxed package from ULead or another source, does it contain a printed users manual. The manual on-line is almost 150 pages and that's a lot to print out.

Thanks

Aha Gus!

could it be that you are tempted to upgrade your VS8SE then! Worthwhile in my opinion, though I've only tried out the VS9 trial. Many VS8 users say it's worth it.

I believe there is a printed manual, together with a handy little book, something along the lines of "a guide to shooting great video" which is pretty useful. And the box is very shiny and colourful too.

Many posters who've upgraded by downloading have reported problems in obtaining additional content and so on - and a big advantage of having the boxed install disks is that they allow you to do a "repair" on your system should anything go amiss.

Thanks for your earlier comments and remembering me.

Yes, I am going to buy the retail VS 9.0 package. I agree that having the disks is probably very useful, but having the manual ready and waiting is worth the $20 premium. I'm up in years and handicapped so that sitting a reading/studying a manual is really my speed. I have never been comfortable reading the on-line/Help manuals and printing out 150 pages on my ink jet would take forever and cost me $30 - $40.

I have spent a lot of time on-line reading about the various company offerings for producing DVD movies from VHS tapes. While every software producer in this field has some supporters, Ulead clearly has the most and the fewest complainers. Nothing out there is perfect because every home computer and user has his/her own set of problems that have to be resolved. I'm convinced that Ulead 9.0 is the best choice, but what really makes me feel good about it is this forum that allows someone to discuss issues and get directional solutions. It's also nice to know that the company cares enough to invest in this kind of customer service.

If it makes a difference the boxed version also has a $30 upgrade rebate (at least the one I just bought did) from an earlier version of VisualStudio or from a competitors product.
This is my first experience with VS, I also have Pinnacle 8. Too many horror stories about P9 and 10 and I really wanted the pan and zoom as well as the picture in picture.
This board has also been a great help in shortening my learning curve with VS9 and I hope to be able to return the favor.

Cheers
