Capture 16:9 still images?

Post by philip »

I have a captured AVI file in 16:9 format and I want to grab some still images from it. However, whether I user "Clip/Save as Still Image" or "Tools/Save Current Frame as Image" I always end up with a 4:3 image with the result that the image looks squashed. I'm sure there is an easy way to solve this, can anyone help please?

TIA,
Philip

Hi Philip

When capturing video to 16:9 format the frame size is the same as 4:3, for Pal 720 x 576.
But Video Studio displays the frames in there correct format, each format looking correct.

When you capture an image from the timeline the resulting Bitmap will be for pal 720 x 576, for both formats.
Viewing this file on an image editor ( adobe photoshop ) Will show it squashed as the size is 720 x 576.

When you view the file on Video Studio it will show it as you capture it.

If you capture a frame as a still image us ‘fit to project size’ ( preferences / edit / image resampling option)
This option has to be set before capturing your image, altering this does not seem to effect existing images.

Hope this Helps.

Hi Philip

In the project properties make sure that 'perform non square pixel rendering' is ticked.
