Computer crashes on authoring DVD (MSP8)

Post by 2fast4murk »

My computer keeps crashing on authoring DVD's.

Here's what I do:
I start DVD MovieFactory from the Video Editor. My movie is a 1.5GB MPEG movie. I create 6 chapters and a menu. When I'm in the preview window (the one with the remote) everything works fine but as soon as I click the 'Next' button my pc crashes. I'm not able to shut down DVDMF from the task manager and even rebooting from the task manager doesn't work. It keeps saying that DVDMF isn't responding but end task doesn't work either. How come this keeps happening?? I tried booting my pc with no background programs running in the taskbar etc but the problem still remains.

I suggest you try re-installing MSP8.

What happens if you use Explorer from your desktop (MSP not running) to go into the directory where you have MSP installed ...\DVD Authoring and you click DVDMF.exe? This should start MF4 as a stand-alone app.

Reinstalling doesn't help either. I also tried a 10MB movie cause I thought it might be lack of memory but then DVDMF also crashes... :(

Is your HDD partitioned and, if so, what do you have on each partition, its size and free space?

I've got one HDD drive which is partitioned as follows:

C: Size = 20 GB, Free space = 8,36 GB
D: Size = 107 GB, Free space = 40,4 GB
E: Size = 21 GB, Free space = 19,5 GB

In the preferences of DVDMF I set working folder to E:\

I don't know if this matters but I tried installing DVD Workshop 2 -> this also crashes on the same place, just like DVDMF and DVD DiskRecorder...
