How do I get media off of a DVD?

I'm trying to get media off of a DVD that was sent to me by a client. The format says it is a VTS - PowerDVD file. I'm trying to turn the media into an AVI or MOV file so I can edit it on a Media 100844x system. Can you help me?

If it is a DVD, you will have *.VOB files on the disk. These files can be renamed to *.MPG and be treated as MPEG2 files and should be able to be edited. That is probably one of the easier ways to do it.
