Black web thumbnails on rotation

I am finding that when I generate web thumbnails then for the photos that I rotated to portrait the web thumbnails are coming out black. The thumbnails shown in the PE Exporer are fine but the ones for the web are black.

Any ideas? I am using all default settings for my thumbnails.
