moving clips on main video track

I want to insert a title in front of the main movie clip and not have it overlay. I would like to insert about 5 seconds of blank space in the main movie track but it will not let me. How can I insert this so the title comes up with a black background and then fades into the first clip? Thanks for helping a newb...

In storybpard veiw you should be able to slect a ''color'' from the dropdown in the top right corner then drag it in front of the first clip then put a title on top of that you might want to set the time of the color clip in the preferances before inserting the color clip (hit f6) in the ''edit'' tab

Thanks that's what I wanted. I did figure a quick work around that was just as easy. I just made a black .jpg and inserted it before the clip. You way is obviously more efficient.
