useless program, no help files, too confusing

I'm about ready to throw in the towel with this mess. I've been messing with this for four days and I still haven't made a movie that I can sample.

All I need to do is make a single dvd movie with a main menu and subs from multiple avi clips. But I can't do that unless I join the clips. When I join the clips, it's impossible to work with them because it slows everyting down to the point of freezing. So I try exporting them as one mpeg and I get junk. The format is wrong even though I choose the same as the avi clip properties.

The avi files are clearly letterbox when I play them with media player, power dvd, and Ulead. Yet the attributes report 352 x 264 which is 4:3. So I try exporting and I select HQ 4:3. But it wants to create 720 x 480, 1.5:1. This is probably the only program I've ever used that doesn't have help files. I downloaded the user manual yet there is no useful information for what I think should be a simple procedure. The tutorials are of no help either.

I'm going to Nero 6.0 which I already have but the menu options are very limited. But at least it can make a dvd from avi files in very short time. The clips don't even have to be joined. This program is worth maybe $19.99 at best. $64 is downright robbery.

I agree with you 500%! AMEN TO THAT! Robbery is exactly what this is. I make sure things work before I make it available to the public....

Frame Size ratio doesn't give the aspect ratio.

Commercial dvds for NTSC are frame size of 720x480.
Aspect Ratios for these dvd's is many, from 4x3, 16x9. There's to many aspect ratios to list. Look on the back cover of commercial dvd movies.
That's why dvd's played on a large screen 16x9 tv still has black bars on the top and bottom. They aren't 16:9 (they are wider).

Sounds like your source file in avi format is a converted mpeg4/divx file created from a dvd. Those files are very hard to convert because of the high compression and audio properties.
