In filming a wedding yesterday, I used a camera that placed the time, including seconds on the film. Now, I cannot get the video into my computer without also having this anoying time code constantly flashing each second. I used a Sony TRV85 camera.
If anyone knows how to turn the timestamp off that would be great but I doubt this is possible. Assuming the worst, is there any advice on how to create a beige or black colored box that could simply cover up the date code?
I'm kicking myself because if I would have hit the "Time" button once I could have avoided this mess.
Thanks
Help please - I messed up!

Sorry. I found a review of a Sony TRV80, which was a high price mini DV camera, and so thought that a TRV would be one step up. But if it is analog, then no - no way of getting rid of it except by the tedious method you suggest. There are software (freeware?) programs for removing things like date stamps, but you would need to do a Google search to find them.

You could just make a coloured 'box' on a green background in Photoshop (or whatever you have) and then put that in the overlay track and use the 'Chroma-key' function to render the green invisible and leave only the box - which doesn't have to be a box shape but could be a shape connected to a wedding such as a heart, - a bell, a church etc.
play with the overlay screen size settings in UVS to get it the right size and in the right place.
