Audio Filter Tutorial for better audio

Post by rguthrie »

I just finished a tutorial on using audio filters in VS9. They're a feature that I'd be willing to bet that most people don't understand and/or use. I explain what the Amplify, Normalize, Remove Noise, and Volume Leveling filters do as they are somewhat similar in nature and could be confusing. I also briefly explain about using VST filters.

View the tutorial at

As an added bonus, here's a link for some freeware VST plugins. I think the Classis Equalizer is worth getting since you could use it to tweak the sound quality of your audio. ;-)

BTW, I know my pictures aren't working. I'm having some server issues with that and hopefully will get it fixed soon.

Enjoy!

Just as an added bonus they all work in Media Studio as well.
Thanks Ron, I would have caste a yes vote but looks like the poll booths have closed.

Steve,

Thanks! I was just playing around with the poll feature and didn't keep it open long. BTW, how are you enjoying your prizes? I've downloaded mine already. I just haven't had any time to play with them much yet.

Cheers,
Ron

Ron

I did some swaps then downloaded all mine. Swapped one of the PI 11 prizes for DMF4 and now I have the full set. Been playing around with Photo Impact this last couple of days, Lovely piece of kit.
I have been playing about with the Custom DVD Menu abilities.
Once you get the hang of the naming conventions you can make your own Menus that work with DVDWS2, MF4 and also VS9.

Steve,

I was able to swap VS9 for DMF4. Which I think was real nice of the Ulead folks to do. So I got that and PI11. I'm looking foward to having some more menu editing capability than what I have with Photoshop CS, since it can't make a .UFO file with Photoshop. Specifically I'd like to be able to make "buttons" that say Play instead of show a play button.

BTW, I picked up a great British mag yesterday that came with the full version MS Pro 7VE. Between my prizes and now that, I'm like a kid on Christmas morning! :D If anything, I can use that to upgrade to MS Pro 8.

Removing normalized Audio Track back to the Video Track ?

Post by anjole64 »

Ron,

thanks for your great tutorial - but I still have some problems
by using audiofilters for mpeg-clips in my project:

1. How can I use the audiofilters for a whole DVD-Project -
maybe I have 20 clips with a different volume level ?
Do I have to normalize clip after clip by splitting audio from
video or is there a way to normalize all my clips in one step?

2. After splitting the Audio Track from the Video Track - how can I
remove the normalized Audio Track back to the Video Track?

Please excuse my bad english - hope anyone can help me?

Regards Joachim
