VideoStudio 8: Cannot create a DVD

Post by lnkaye »

On the "Create Disc" screen, it shows that there is no DVD burner available. Yet, I have 2 of them on my machine and have used them before with Studio. All options for burning are grayed out other than a disc image and folders. Am I missing something here?

Computer: Gateway, 3 gb, Pentium 4, Windows XP media center, 512 ram. I need to know what's wrong ASAP, as I have a presentation due tomorrow and can't get a DVD burned of my project.

I read on the fourm that Media Center Edition of Windows XP is having problems with finding/writing DVD writers.

If you have a deadline, I suggest you make a folder/disk image and burn the disk from there.

Can't burn a DVD

Post by lnkaye »

Hi,
I've been using the same computer (with xp media center edition) before when I was able to burn many DVD's. This is a new problem with a new project. The ability to choose a DVD burner is non-existent all of a sudden. I am wondering if I should try to see if a past project will be able to burn again. In the meantime, has anyone experienced this problem? Would it payoff to uninstall VS8 and reinstall it? I have a 1:00 pm deadline for 1/2/06 and am getting very concerned. I tried to save as a folder, disk image and after about an hour I got an error message saying it couldn't open the file. Is there any program out there that ca convert a .vsp project into their own format? I'm in a panic mode now. Thanks if any of you can help me now.

Have you installed the patches and the CD/DVD burning patch?

You might want to download the trial version of Video Studio 9 and see if it can detect your DVD writers.

:D
I solved the problem with burning a dvd. I "repaired" the vs8 installation and then added the new drivers and all is working fine now. Since I used to be able to burn dvds with vs8 on the same computer, it had to be a problem with the software itself.
