I take a video file in VS7, when I try to Create it to a disc, it
says,."Converting Video." the bar at the bottom goes all the way to
100%. It starts over. It will do this all night over and over and over.
It never goes past this. How can I get it to stop Creating video over
and over?
Thank you,
Chris.

What is the format of the video file and what kind of disc are you creating? If you are not using a file which has already been made compatible with the format of the disc you are trying to burn, then you are asking for trouble. In other words, say for example, you have a video file captured in DV/AVI format which you want to burn to a DVD. Then if you are not first going to Share > Create Video File > DVD, you are not following recommended procedure. Even though it is theoretically possible to go straight to Share > Create Disc > DVD and use your DV/AVI file, as you appear to be doing, wide experience on this Board suggests you are more likely than not to have problems. Read the Recommended Procedures in the top sticky post.

It is recorded in MPEG2.
I have a few DVD's I did the way it's supposed to. Worked fine. I reinstalled my OS and programs (US7) now I have the problem described.
The suggestions on this site on how to do it are ridicules. Even if I do it in with the "BURN properties exactly match your VIDEO FILE properties." it still goes through the processes again.
Also, if I put it on the drive as a file, when I go back to it, I have to put the chapters in all over again. Doing things twice with video is not the way I was told how to treat video files. I had no problems (other then not being able to put 2GB files on a 4.4GB Disc before I redid my drive. Chris.

OK - they may seem ridiculous to you, but when people follow them, they avoid the sort of problem you are now experiencing.
But given the fact that you will proceed with your method regardless, then can you at least tell us the exact properties of the mpeg-2 file you are trying to convert to disc. It is important to know this since there are of course different flavours of mpeg-2, and not all of them are necessarily DVD-compliant e.g. if you had in fact gone to Share > Create Video File and chosen the MPEG-2 option, then you would not be producing a DVD compliant file, but one which is Frame Based instead of Upper or Lower Field First field order, and which has a frame format for SVCD.
So I guess what you would have to be doing is capturing your mpeg-2 with DVD properties (NTSC 29.97 fps, Field Order A if capturing from most digital sources, Field Order B if from most analog capture devices, 720 x 480, VBR 8000 kbps for highest quality, or lower to fit more on disc, plus one of the NTSC audio formats -- LPCM, good but large files, Dolby much smaller. MPEG Layer 2 audio is not NTSC standard but will often work.)
Then, when you go to Share > Create Disc, the program should not think it has to convert/render the file as it is already DVD-compliant. Make sure you click the box which says 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files' in the little Options cogwheel in the bottom left of the burning screen. 'Smart Render' should also ensure that only edits, transitions, titles etc would be converted.
And if you want to save your menus and chapters etc, then before you actually burn the disc, close the burning module and you will be asked if you want to save your work. Answer yes of course. You then have to re-open the project but can proceed straight to burning the disc. Now *that* is ridiculous -- I cannot understood why Ulead have never given us a simple 'Save' button which would avoid having to close everything and then re-open it.

I'll check the video and post back.
I tried just what it said on this site. It still went to converting video over and over. When I set it to the disc in the same as the original file, it still re-rendered and did the stuff over again. Then, when it got to the point where it converting video, it went over and over and over without going to something else.
It worked fine until I installed it again. Maybe I should try to wipe my drive and reinstall everything again. Or maybe I should save up and get another program? I hear Pinacle is a good one?

Something is messed up with your system and need to be fixed. If you want to try another program prior, feel free.

VS worked fine (except not being able to put 2GB on a 4.4GB disc, but that's a common problem on the forums with VS) until I reinstalled.
The thread you quoted is VS 9. Wonder if I should upgrade to 9 instead of pinnacle? I'm using 7.

I used to watch TechTv, ScreenSavers, and Call for Help all the time. Leo seemed to really know his stuff. However I now question that.happydog500 wrote:I herd it from Leo Laporte.heinz-oz wrote:Where did you hear that, surely not here?

If you take some time and search through the forums for Pinnicle, I think you'll find several posts where Pinnicle users posted their opinions....
