can you make vs6se handle more than 1 hour of video, upgrade?

This isn't like the others that have 6 gb of video trying to squeeze it onto a 4.7gb dvd.
I converted some 8mm film on vhs to dvd. The quality is so bad that I find I can change the capture to a point where each 1 hour of movie only takes up about 2gb's on a dvd. But anytime I try to add past the 1 hour point on vs6se, it has a cow. I cannot create chapter marks past the 1 hour mark, and if I try to make chapters anywhere else, it takes 5 to 10 mins for the software to respond, where as if I am 1 hour or less, it works almost instantly.
Is there a trick to do this with vs6se, or do I have to upgrade? That is if any of the newer ones can do it.

Andrewhsia,

I'd humbly recommend that you upgrade to VS9. It's capable of so much more than VS6SE you'll be astonished. Of course the user interface has changed over time but it is still intuitive. And yes VS9 can handle over 1 hour videos. I just took some Media Center TV recordings and combined 3 1-hour shows and it handled it great. I then burned them to a DVD9 double layer disk with no problems.

BTW, how old is your system? You may want to double check the system requirements before you upgrade. Also, more food for thought, but when VS10 comes out you may not be able to upgrade and have to pay full price. I noticed that VS5 users can still upgrade to VS9, but still it's $49.99 to upgrade.

Thanks. Wanted to be sure that it wasn't a problem all the way up through the current software.
