about free plugins

Why

Educational version cannot download free plug-ins.

Even if it is educational version, it must be enable to download free plug-ins it is free anyway right?..

please refer to my request...

By Educational version do you mean SE, or trial version?

Whichever (though I suspect he/she means the trial version). But the plug-ins are only free to registered users. And that would not cover the trial version. I assume, however, it would cover SE versions, as they usually have a serial number and can be registered.

i am from singapore and when i bought this the sales person said it is on offer for student at a student price... cost me $99. I also wanted this because of the mpeg4 plug-in for my psp and learning about video editing and the HDV for the 3CCD cam my dad bought.

yes i registed the cd key.. it is educational version

i don't think it is trial version.. cause all the features can be used.. and it has a cd key on it. above my cd key it says. UVS V9 (E) EDU INT (ASIA)

i support this company in promoting edu package at a student price but we students that bought this package should be able to download the free plug-ins right?

None of us here on this Board work for Ulead, so we have no idea what their policy might be. Moreover, this is the first time that I at least have ever heard of an 'educational version', and I have been on the Board for more than 3 years. I assume when you say you paid $99 for it, you mean in Singaporean dollars -- which is about US$60. To buy the 'full' version of the program costs US$99, yet a lot of our American colleagues buy it in the US for a lot less either with special offers or cash-back schemes. An upgrade from a previous version costs US$50. So I would certainly agree you should be able to get the free downloads. But as I say, I have no idea what Ulead's policy on this is. There is little point in pursuing the matter on this Board as Ulead does not appear to participate here. You need to pursue it directly with them.

I assume you have tried downloading them and have got a refusal message directly relating to your version of the program...? Or has it just failed to download, with no message? A lot of people have been in the latter position, including me. The only way they succeeded in the end in getting the downloads was by directly contacting Ulead.

i have tried many times with my cd key... and it just comes out the message saying i cannot download cause my package is edu package...

I just contacted ulead about this useing e-mail and the reply they give me was this:

We regret but the promo is only available for registered users of purchased versions of Ulead VideoStudio 9. The VideoStudio 9 that you are using is created for educational or training so it is not eligible for the free plugin download.

If you want the Mpeg-4 plugin in your VideoStudio 9, you can purchase it from the following link;

i aready paid $99 for this edu package. now i have to pay another S$49.94 for just the mpeg4 plug-in? its like buying the full...

I respect and totally support to sell their product at a cheaper price for students like me to learn. But being unable to download the plug-ins when it says it is free is a little fustrated. they all made it free anyway right?

I don't know where you bought your "educational" version from but you paid way too much! At Academicsuperstore you can get the FULL version for only US$69.95.

I'm sorry to hear that that you can't get the free plug-ins, but please realize that it is a promotional for registered FULL users. It is also an enticement for those who perhaps are still using older versions of VS, or SE, or or educational versions of VS9 to upgrade. If you really want the plug-in that bad, I recommend that pou buy the full version (instead of just the plug-in) since in the educational version you probably don't have all of the extra content that the full version has either.

Now you may be able to upgrade your educational version, check with Ulead. If so the upgrade costs only US$35.95 from the above store. Here's it's link:

Haix... as ken berry said.. there is little point in this matter now.

I only can say. I made a mistake buying this product at student price.

The only thing i can do i just encode videos in to .avi or other fommats and use another program to make it to mpeg4 fommat. Its abit troublesome but no complains....

But if anyway ulead board changes its mind to let edu download its free plug-ins it will be nice...

If u change the full package price in US to SG you will know why its expensive here... and why i bought the student price...
