Poor DVD quality

Post by danderson »

Evaluating VS9 and think I'm going to like it, but am experiencing the usual problems....

Captured, edited and burned project to dvd, but quality is very poor. It's like using slowest speed on VHS tape! Obviously somethign isn't set up right, but I'm not smart enough to know what! Will I have to start over to correct?

Thanks

You didn't say what export template you're using.

When exporting a DVD file or choosing MPEG encoding options for direct burning use the Custom settings dialog. This is available when exporting a video file (Custom is at the bottom of the menu) or when direct burning by entering the Project Settings/Change MPEG Settings/Customize menu from the burning page.

I use a quality of 90, 2-pass VBR encoding, 4500-5000 kbps and Dolby audio at 224 kbps for most of my projects.

Also, could you tell us how long is your video? 1 hour? 2 hours? Did you capture in MPEG or DV? What did you capture TV, VHS, miniDV?
