Hi,
I just bought CD & DVD picturelab 4 (I think this is the same as PictureShow 4), French version.
So, I create a slide show from scratch:
Step 1: I select 4 jpg files.
Step 2: I want to see my slide show >> crash.
The error is as follows:
AppName: dvdps.exe
AppVer: 4.0.0.0
ModName: uvmp3.vio
ModVer:4.0.0.0
Offset: 000063be
Thank you for helping on this matter.
Patrice.

Problems of this sort can be difficult to diagnose in a web board setting. I would definitely recommend that you contact Ulead tech-support and provide as many details as possible. As far as I know, tech-support does not monitor messages on this board.
That said, if you could fill out your "system profile" it might help the other users here to offer some suggestions.
As a wild guess, the mod "uvmp3.vio" mentioned in your error message might indicate some sort of "mp3" related problem. Are you using an mp3 audio file and if so, could you try replacing it with a ".wav" file OR temporarily remove all audio from the project and let us know if it makes any difference?

Hi michaeltee,
Thank you for your suggestion. So I removed the background sound (standard one from the application and it works. So, this seems in relation with the mp3 sound.
Another try:
I created a slideshow from Ulead picture browser 8.5.
I export it to Ulead pictureshow.
This slideshow has sounds attached to the images (mp3 files).
So, It crashes also with the following information:
AppName: dvdps.exe
AppVer: 4.0.0.0
ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 00000000
I made a new try and removed the audio played during the menu display and it works Ok.
I made a new try and putting a wav file as audio and it works Ok.
So, obviously, mp3 files are related to the problem.
Patrice.

Hi Patrice,
I know you'd like to solve the problem but at least for now you have a fairly simple workaround, converting your mp3 files to wav for your PS4 projects. Aside from the inconvenience, the only drawback might be the larger file size of wav vs. mp3.
I'm not sure if this will tell us anything, but are you converting CD audio to mp3 yourself? if so, what conversion software are you using? Also, what bit rate. If these are files you've downloaded (already encoded in mp3) are you sure they are not "protected" files? Lastly, do you have any other mp3 files from a different download or conversion source that you could try in a project as an experiment?
Now that you know (or strongly suspect) the problem is directly related to mp3 audio you should update your tech-support case with this info as it might help them to zero in on the cause.
Let us know how it's going

Hi again Mike,
So, even the mp3 provided with the SW make it crash (they are in the Content/audio directory of the pictureShow SW). So, DRM protections are not the cause of the problem.
As you suggested, I posted a request directly to Ulead support and now I am waiting for the answer.
To convert mp3 files into wav, I use a trial version of "River past audio converter". It is limited to 2 mn duration by file. This is enough for me as each sound file is rarely longer than 1 mn.
regarding tuning, I use the best parameters I can in order to have the best sound (These files are narration files for my pictures). Using Wav files instead will increase the project size a lot, I think.
Thanks for your support.
Patrice.

Hi Patrice,
RiverPast is known to be a high quality converter and there's no question PS4 should be able to handle mp3 files encoded at 320K. While you're waiting for a reply from tech-support, the only thing I'd suggest would be to try a different mp3 encoder that doesn't impose a time restriction on your conversions. One particular program I'd recommend is Easy CD-DA Extractor which offers a 30 day unrestricted trial version.
