Capture from Hitachi 270A?

Post by Bucky »

Anyone capturing DV from a Hitachi 270A? My camcorder is connected and I'm able to see the folders and files on the DVD-RAM via explorer, but within ULead VS: Capture I get "Either no video capture driver is installed in this system or no device is connected."

Via Device Manager I see that my camcorder is there and well.
I've installed the UDF Device Driver, but perhaps something is wrong with it, only I'm not sure how to check if that is the case.

What kills me is I use to be able to get the DV clips off my 270A with MovieFactory, but it has stopped as well.

VS Disc Image Recorder sees my Hitachi as one of the systems DVD recordable drives. Which makes me think all the more that it is the video capture driver, only I'm not sure what to check next.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

Since the video is already on your camera's DVD-RAM, it is in effect already 'captured'. It is thus only a matter of transferring it to your computer. With your program VS 8 open at the edit page, right click in the timeline and choose Insert DVD/DVD-VR, which is second from the top in the drop-down menu which appears.

I'll be. I thought I tried everything. Called Hitachi and got a good deadend. I have the Hitachi PC Kit, only I have version 4 not 3. Seems version 3 included 'ULead DVD MovieFactory 1.0 SE for Hitachi DVD-camcorder'. And that version had a DVR plugin which understands Hitachi's .VRO file format. According to Hitachi that is the only software available for transfering the DV to your PC.

BUT - Ken I owe you one. That is simple and works like a champ! Wow Thank you!!! I should have posted here first before the hours and hours I've spent the past couple days.
