You might have to upgrade to SP2. I have a HDR-HC1 that works with VS9 and MSP8. I have only done HD with both programs and have not had any problems.

My Cameras' screen indicates when iLink is connected, I'm not sure if the FX1 displays the same information, check your users manual to see if you should get iLink information on your view screen.

If HDV does not show up as a Source option in the capture module, try installing the HDV plugin again. (The Mpeg4 plugin install program interferes with the HDV plugin.)

Hi JOHNTGELL,

Please let us know how you get on I've got an FX1 which will mostly be used for work and edited in the Office but there may be some small projects I can edit here at home so I'm looking at Video Studio for this. However I can't see any assurance on the ULead site that Video Studio with the plug in will work with the FX1 in HDV mode, there's plenty of assurance that it will work with the consumer HC1 HDV model but nothing for the FX1. Good luck and let us know how you go on please.

Thanks

Problem seems to have been solved. It was not that VS9 could not see my camcorder but my computer could not see it. When I looked in Windows XP device manager no HDV device was listed. Looking in VS9 HDV troubleshooting it mentions that XP service pack 2 can only detect Sony HDV camcorders, I was on SP1. Changed to SP2, spent 3 days trying to get sp2 to work on my computer, (still can not close down) but computer seems to work now. Connected Sony Fx 1 & checked device manager and found “A/C TAPE DEVICE” under sound, video &games, undated drivers for this device. Now checked VS9 and it now found camcorder. Tested & it seems to work.
Thanks for all reply’s.

Happy New Year John
