no IFO files in trial version?

Post by archer57 »

I just did a movie from avi clips but I chose create dvd folders rather than burn to disk so I could view it before burning. I tried to play it but no IFO files were created. I got the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders and the VOB files, that's all. Is this a limitation in the trial version?

If you point the player to the VIDEO_TS folder, you will be able to play the DVD.

It is not a limitation. You should be able to produce a fully working DVD file complete with VOBs and IFOs.

If I point the player to the Video_TS folder, it looks for the IFO. I can play the individual VOB files but without the IFOs, I don't have the menu and chapter selection. All I got when writing to a folder was the VOBs. Perhaps if I burn to a dvd disk I will get the complete set of files?

Nope, you have something wrong somewhere.
The burn to DVD folders produces the same number of files as the burn to disk option.

Seems like it may have aborted the burning process prematurely.
If you try to simply render the DVD again it will use the files you have just rendered rather than the originals, so either delete or rename the folder containing the DVD Folder and try to render it again.

The program reported that the process was completed so it did not abort. But no IFO. Can you be more specific on "you have something wrong somewhere"? Perhaps I have too many subs and chapters? Three subs with three chapters each?

I just did a test burn to a DVD folder with a small file.
It produced the following files:

Video_TS.BUP
Video_TS.IFO
Video_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
Perhaps I have too many subs and chapters? Three subs with three chapters each?
I wouldn't have thought this would be a problem. Have you tried to render it again as I suggested?

Thank you very much for all your help.

I tried it again with a small sample that has three clips and one menu page and this time, I got all the required files. I will try the full blown movie again.

When I did the larger one and got only the VOBs, I noticed that I got one very small VOB (normal) and one huge VOB that was over 2g in size. From other dvds, I always see several VOBs that usually are 100 mb in size. Is there an advantage with these smaller files and why does movie maker create only one huge one?
