I've just purchased MovieFactory 4. On installation a error message said that my QuickTimeAuthoring.qtx could not be updated and to remove the readonly property on the file. The file was not readonly but I removed the reaonly property from the folder and all files and subfolders. After doing this change, the installation still complained. I decided to abort it and to try installing again to find that the install software has no un-install option. So I had to go through control panel, and I successfully removed the first Ulead program (can't remember the name) on the list of installed software. But on trying to remove Ulead MovieFactory 4 it errors with this message: > SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (439)
pAPP: Ulead MovieFactory 4
PVENDOR: Ulead System
PGUID:448AB2CB-C94A-47DE-80B8-9D7824DEFA57 $7.1.00.1248
@Windows XP Sevice Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180
Setup has experienced an error
Please do the following:
- Close any running programs
- Empty your temporary folder
- Check your internet connection
Then try to run setup again.
I done all the above, when running Uleasd setup it gives the message that the software is already installed and to un-install it first.
I have put-in a support call to Ulead and I'm just waiting for some response. By the sound of other users experience, I don't like my chances of getting any help from Ulead...
Does any one have any suggestions on what I can do to run Uleasd DVD MovieFactory setup again, without having to rebuild by PC?
Regards,
IJOSE

Here's the procedure for a "Clean" uninstall/reinstall which I copied from a previous posting. Sounds like this may be what you need although I'll mention the usual "at your own risk" disclaimer
Perform a Clean Remove of the program from your system. You may or may not find all entries in the list.
1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to
"Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders".
2. Please purge/delete all the files in these folders:
"C:\Windows\Temp"
“C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp” (for WinXP and 2000)
"My Documents\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\4.0" (Working Folder)
3. Go to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems"
4. Delete the folder for MovieFactory 4.0
5. Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems". If a file says it cannot be deleted, open the Task Manager and end the process named "ulcdrsvr.exe" then delete the folder again.
6. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"
7. Delete the folder "{448AB2CB-C94A-47DE-80B8-9D7824DEFA57}"
8. Go to Start-->Run
9. type "regedit"
10. Go to
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"
and
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"
11. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.
12. Go to
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"
and
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"
13. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.
14.Close "Regedit"
15.Restart Windows
16.Reinstall MovieFactory 4

MF4 Disc creator
Thanks maddrummer3301,
Reading various threads, uninstallaing MF4 completely could be daunting procedure especially for me as a novice/dummy. I hear one just could not delete using 'add/remove' program. Is it true?
In Page 3 of forum michaeltee gives a a method that boggles my mind and so petrified to attempt especially with the 'disclaimer'. Is there other easier and sure ways please.

Don't be too freaked about my disclaimer. If I didn't consider the procedure to be safe I wouldn't have posted it. I'm simply saying that in the unlikely event of a problem please don't hold me personally responsible
As long as you follow the instructions carefully you should be fine. When typed out it looks much worse than it is. It should actually only take a few minutes to complete. As far as I know, this is the only way to fully remove ALL elements of the program.
That said, I haven't seen your original posting. What sort of problem are you having and are you sure a full uninstall is needed?

Ladislaus,
If you do decide to proceed, you will need to find the appropriate folder for your own step 7 by looking in each of the folders in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information and double-clicking on the Setup.ini file until you find the one that refers to DVDMovieFactory.
