VHS TAPES TO DVD USING DAZZLE 85

Just received the dazzle 85 and want to use it to restore old VHS tapes to DVD. Would like to know the best settings to use when capturing and editing. Mpeg2? AVI? Bit Rates 8000? Type 1 or 2 and others that you may know of. I could take a guess but I'de like to be certain.
