I am transferring some files I have (tv shows) to DVD using Ulead DVD Movie Factory 4. The files are type AVI and when I get to the step of burning the DVD there is a long, long time spent converting my files to the right file type. It can take hours and hours (the last project I did took over 9 hours, and 8 of that was spent converting).
My question is, what type of file is DVD Movie Factory converting my files to? Because I am sure I could use another program (such as WinAVIVideoConverter) to do this step of the project. I have used an application like this before and it only took 10-15 minutes to convert a file.
Does that make sense?
Conversion file type for DVD
It's converting to mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 (depending on the type of disc you are authoring).
If you can pre-convert them (before DMF4), then you can tell DMF4 to use compliant source videos "asis" without re-encoding (check the gear icon, and checkmark the "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" option.
Regards,
