upgrading trial version to full version

Post by steve_e »

Hi -
I had a trial version of VS 9, and I've now just bought the full version (not download, it's a package from a store). The trial version has expired and when I try to run it it offers me the option to 're-install the license'. Is this how I register it properly as a full version? When I enter the product serial number it doesn't recognize it.

Or should I uninstall it and re-install from scratch?

Also, I'd like to install the product on my laptop as well as my desktop, so that I can use it when I'm away from home. Most products allow this - can I do it with VS9?

Thanks
Steve

There have been numerous problems posted regarding installing the full version when the user has the trial installed. Go to this link and do a clean uninstall of the trial first. Then use your full copy to re-install.

NO NOT purchase just a key to unlock the trial version! You'll be locked out of the program if you have to do a few re-installs overtime or change hardware in your PC frequentely. I'm currentely locked out of mine. If you wan't to buy VS, purchase the boxed retail version and uninstall the trial completley beforehand.

Thanks to you both. Fortunately I bought the boxed version, so I'll follow those instructions!

I was hoping to avoid uninstalling as I used the trial version to put a video together which I'd still like to burn to DVD. Hopefully I can still do this with the data files.

Did anyone have any comments on installing it on my laptop as well as my home PC?

Regards, Steve
