The downside is you can't open or add any video files with GA 5.
:D Thank you so much for this advice. I had been tearing my hair out for days and you solved it all in one go. Thank you very very much.

dbpvr wrote:its a problem with gif animator being incompatible with the latest 3ivx codec which causes it to crash find the 3ivx.dll in your system32 folder and rename it to 3ivx.dll.bak and GA should run again

3ivxDSEncoder.ax might also cause this but mainly it will slow down the start up but it can be disabled by renaming it also

if you need these codecs you can just restore them again
beutifull   Gifani started right up, thank you so much.
Ive been so frustrated on trying to get it to work for a week now and I ran across this forum. and what you said WORKS . thx

I've had explorer.exe crashing everytime I went to 'My Computer' and clicked into my C or F drive. Although it didn't involve the animator problem, it was a 3ivx.dll problem. I tried the rename (adding .bak) and the problem has disappeared. I'm glad I found this page today, previously did searches and never came up with such a simple and fast solution---THANKS A LOT BRIGGS555

I too, had the same result and the successful result was immediate.
Many thanks. Now I can concentrate on learning how to run the program!

I have one question, however. If I need to restore these codecs, won't I have the same problem, again?
