Photo Impact Pro Version 10

Post by wxchic »

Hello and Merry Christmas! I am new and I received this item for Christmas. Is this an old version? Should I return it for Photo Impact 11 or are there things in this package that are better than 11? Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance,
Theresa

PI 10 Pro is a product marketed by NOVA. It contains PI 10 as we know it here but is a slightly different compilation as far as I know. NOVA tend to recompile the ULEAD programs and often include ULEAD patches in the compilation. It's also packaged with other programs than what you usually would get with PI from ULEAD.

I haven't looked for it, but AFAIK, PI 10 Pro is the latest version of the NOVA product. PI 11 is a different version and has a lot of advantages over PI 10, mainly in the photo processing department. Because of stability issues with it at present I would not suggest to swap it even if you could.

I have PI 10 and PI 11 but most of my projects are done in PI 10 still.

Thank you Heinz! My husband says it wasn't all that expensive anyway, so maybe I will keep it until they fix 11. I appreciate your help!

I would keep it even longer. I still have PI XL installed as well. Every PI version had something that it could do better than the other versions. Some people I know have even more versions still installed. Just because PI 11 is the latest version doesn't automatically mean it's better than 10. The only thing better with it, as far as I can tell, is the support for RAW images taken with digital cameras. PI 11 is the first version with comprehensive RAW support.

May I suggest something else to you also? Head over to http://www.pircnet.com/ where you will find a lot of fun activities for PI, a great user forum, a lot of tutorials which will help you to get the most out of PI and last but not least, a free beginners workshop for PI that will teach you how to use all the tools provided with PI. The workshop is currently having some time off. If I'm not mistaken, they will start up again in early January.

Have fun with it and all the best for the new year.
