Hi.
A long time ago, I got the boxed version of vs7. I later upgraded it, first to vs8 and even later to vs9. And this has worked fine up until now.
A few days ago, I got the crazy idea, that I would uninstall vs7 and 8, as I only use vs9 anyway. And so I did. And now I have problems with a missing MPEG encoder (and possibly other, yet to be discovered, issues as well).
No problem, i thought. I just do a repair. I believe I've done that once before. But no. I only get the option to uninstall everything, and I rather don't want to do that. And if I do, I guess I still need the original retail vs7, right? I do have it...... somewhere...... packed away real good.
So, do you have any ideas? Is there another way to do a repair of my installation?
Best regards,
Mikael
How do I repair my vs9 installation?

Dig for that original version.....
Remove and reinstall VS9 Upgrade. It will ask to locate a previous version during the install which you can supply and you will get a fresh install without having to worry if you will cause a problem by removing VS7 afterwards.

Just to clarify Guy's comment a little: when it looks for the earlier version, all you need to do is put in the VS7 disc into one of your drives. You don't have to install it. Once the VS9 installation process 'sees' the disc, it is happy and goes on to install the full program which should not need any parts of previous versions.

Je ne suis pas Acadiens. J’étais né Franco Ontarien et j’ai déménage a Halifax en 1997. Bonne année a toi aussi, mon ami vidéo!Ken Berry wrote:De rien, mon ami! Et Bonne Année Nouvelle – ou est-ce que tu es Acadien, là-bas à Halifax, et il me faut dire ‘Happy New Year’ en place de ça??!!
You are familar with Halifax and the Maritime Acadian history I take it? I have thought many times since moving here to trace my roots back to see if I have any connections. The name Lapierre is fairly common in this region.
