What capture format to use for DVR recording?

Hello all,
Newbie here-I've gone throuh all of the posts and read a good many on them but didn't find the answer to my question.
If I'm capturiing a recording from a DVR, what capture format should I use mpeg, dvd? I will be burning the captured recording to DVD.

The best capture settings depend on the capture device. Those that produce MPEG2 like the ADS devices will work best with that format, those that generate DV like the Canopus devices should capture to DV AVI. If you have a sufficiently fast PC, you can let UVS transcode DV to MPEG2 on the fly, though it won't give you as good a quality as a separate conversion following the capture.
