Cannot Open Photo Express!

Post by galleherjazz »

I have a registered version of Photo Express 4 and had a problem when I first got my new 300 gig HD (Pentium 4, 1 gig RAM, Windows XP Pro). The program would not open. The Ulead support technical folk suggested that I right click on the Photo Express icon and click on Properties. Then, on the Compatibility tab, put a check on the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box. Choose 'Windows 98/Windows ME' from the drop down list. Then click "OK".

THIS WORKED!

Then, recently, the program would not open again, and having the compatibility tab alread on Windows 98/Windows ME, I followed the support folks' second suggestion, to rename the Uvavi.vio file. This did not work. I must say the support team suggested several things--complete, careful uninstall and reinstall with programs closed. BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem opening Photo Express and what they did to correct the problem. I believe that perhaps a program is blocking it from opening. I have closed my firewall; I have deactivated NAV; I have closed various and sundry programs, but I cannot pinpoint what, if any, program is the culprit here.

The support people have exhausted their suggestions. Do any of you have any ideas.

Thanks!

Issue Resolved!!

At last, thanks to encouragement from some of you and tracing the problem of another (unreleated) program that similarly crashed when opened, I found the offending folder.

It is the K-Lite Codex pack. I think this comes from KaZaA, I am not sure. But I uninstalled the codex pack, and now both of my Photo Express (versions 4 & 6) open beautifully.
