2-pass encode & smart render

Post by XBatmanX »

I was wondering if ticking on the 2-pass encode box will make an mpeg file not "smart render". I made Workshop author my movie onto my hard drive first into a dvd folder before I burned it. Outside of making the motion menus which took 40 minutes, it took 15 minutes to multiplex the video/audio and finalize the vob of my 2 hour movie.

No, it won't. It is (very marginally) useful only when encoding to a VBR mpg file.

Generally, if a mpg file is DVD-compatible, you should not re-encode it to avoid a quality loss. This is why WS2 defaults to encode only files that are not DVD-compatible. To force encoding, in Edit|Video (or Audio, as appropriate) check Convert to Disc Template.
