Greetings,
Happy holidays to one and all. Thanks to everyone who has helped in the past.. directly through replys and indirectly through answering my questions through someone else asking them first. You guys rock!
Anyways.. Burning dvds with Moviefactory in MSP8.. Finish the project.. rendered into dv type one 4x3 ntsc. Go export to dvd authoring which turns on Moviefactory. Go through all the menu settings etc.. wait through the "THIS PROJECT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO RENDER"..then way cool, the dvd burns and works great. Hit the continue button.. put in new blank dvd.. hit burn and it goes to "Burning dvd" after 5 minutes get error screen saying (something wrong with target hardware. reboot or try again.) I hit burn and this time it goes to what seems to be a small render of just the menu and re-sets up the vob files..then it burns fine. This happens every other time. On the odd (it fails) times, it goes directly to burn after continue, on the even (it works) times it remakes part of the file every time..then succeeds. Is it me doing something incredibly silly or better yet, has someone else had this problem and has figured out how to make it work more consistantly. By the way.. in case it matter the dvds are being burned at good quality dolby digital 4k..the second choice down on the north american menu. The only option extra I add is the two pass conversion. Again many thanks and best wishes to all.

For multiple copies, instead of burning to a DVD disk either
1. Burn to a Hard Drive Folder
or
2. Burn a Disc Image.
Then use whichever one of the two you have chosen above to burn your DVD's from.
I prefer to use Option 1 because I can then check it with PowerDVD (Or you can use any other similar software) to give your DVD a final check before burning to disc.

Strange! That is the exact opposite of my experience. I have had no difficulties with Ulead burning for either CDs (of any type) or DVDs, and have totally abandoned Roxio and Nero, both of which caused me hassle.

I burn my DVD's from a DVD folder using "CopyToDVD"
http://www.vso-software.fr/
Compared to Nero 6 I find it appears to burn a stronger signal to the Disc.
When I do a test burn onto a DVDRW with Nero I often get bad areas as a result of a poor burn. The same DVD Folder burned to a DVDRW with CopyToDVD produces a much better disc.
Having said that the bad areas on the disc only occurs with DVDRW discs, never have any problems when using DVD R
Before anyone mentions anything it's not a speed issue, I even tried burning at single speed. I find that the first time I burn a DVDRW the result is as good as a DVD R. It is only on the second and subsequent burns I get a problem with bad areas as though the disc hasn't been erased correctly.
I even changed my DVD Writer but the problem persisted.
I have noticed though I always get far better results burning RW discs from CopyToDVD than I do with Nero or Uleads own burning software.

Many thanks
Specifically this time to Steve. I tried making a disk folder of one of the projects I had already done. Burned five in a row with no coasters. Very very cool. Now I just have to wait till hd-dvd comes out to see what trouble I can get into next.
Again many thanks
Bill
