Visual Studio DVD Create Disc Fails With Large WMV in VS

Post by schorschi »

I have HP CMT D500 Series PC, Running completely up to date Windows XP (NOT HOME, REAL XP) with 512 MB RAM, 2.8 GHZ P4. Have an existing WMV file that is about 1.2 GB in size. Visual Studio will not create a DVD. VS 9 with latest updates works fine on VS projects where length of video is much shorter, making DVD.ISO images for example. But not on anything 1 GB or bigger. This does not make sense, can VS 9 not output to disk during the rasterization?

I have no trouble creating the MWV files in say movie maker, but since movie maker can not generate DVDs, I am stuck. Oh, and when VS 9 crashes, I get the typical... Windows XP is low on virtual memory warnings.

Any suggestions? Adding RAM does not make sense if virtual memory is the issue?

Have you tried cutting your 1.2 gig clip in half? That way you would be working with two 600 mb clips in VS, and you could butt them right up together so that your video would still play seamlessly as though it were one, large clip...

Actually, thinking the same line, I am in the middle of breaking it up into about 4 or 5 segments and give that a shot. The fact that I have to do this at all, sucks. AoA X Video Converter and other tools, like it, do not require this.
