I have a DVD that was made a while back that is a normal non-protected video DVD that will play in any standard DVD player. What I'd like to do is to get that video back onto my PC in an editable format (like MPEG) so I can pull it into VideoStudio and extract some clips to put another little production together. But I don't have any of the original videos that were used to produce the DVD -- all I have is the final product.
What tools are available to get this off of the DVD and decoded into an editable format? Can VS8 dot this directly?

Yes, open VS8 and put the disc in the tray of your DVD RW. Right click on the timeline to import there or right click on the area to the right of the preview screen. You will get a drop down list, insert DVD/VR. Select that and you get a dialogue box that will let you navigate to the DVD RW with your disc in it. Select the disc or the VIDEO_TS folder on the disc and click ok. The program will give you thumbnails of what is on the disc. Select what you want and import.
