We didn't realize that the software that came with our recorder was only for DVD-RAM captures. So, we now have 8 Memorex mini DVD-R that we can't download to our PC. They play fine on the cam viewer. The Hitachi website is pretty cryptic about which software will allow for us to capture the recordings on our DVD-R discs. When we called them, they REFUSED to recommend anything. Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

Video Studio and Movie Factory (I think Media Studio Pro too) have DVD import features, but some users have experienced problems with some DVDs. You can download the free trial versions to see if they work with DVDs from your camcorder.
