Only one theme installed?

Post by forefront »

I bought, downloaded and successfully installed VS9. Only one theme, the Christmas one, is available.

Judging by the similar questions on this forum it appears to be an issue surrounding the downloaded version.

Where can I obtain these themes from?

First tell us whether you are using the DVD wizard (where normally only the Christmas theme appears) or the full editor aproach and then into the burning module, where all the themes normally appear...

Tools > VideoStudio DV-to-DVD Wizard

"Burning mode" ??? - there is no such menu item...do you mean Tools>Create Disk? if so, there are menu templates, not themes. Themes, judging by the Christmas theme, are where a theme/graphic/music surrounds the entire DVD/video being played.

I meant the burning module which appears when you go to Share > Create Disc. The point I was trying to make, though, was that I think the theme(s) available if you use the wizard when the program starts up are limited, probably to the Christmas one for some reason. Others have found the wizard limited and limiting in more ways than this. Probably more than 90% of us here on this Board in fact simply ignore the wizard and use the main editor. When you open the burning module, you are presented with templates, and not themes: you are correct. But, you can not only select the template from a relatively wide variety, but you can then personalise it with your own photo or image backgrounds in the menus and sub-menus, and select your own music for each, etc. Some adventurous souls even make their own templates. But what I am trying to say is that you get more flexibility and personalisation if you use the editor rather than the wizard.

This is a great answer; thank you for your time.

It just isn't the answer to the question :-)

Templates are not themes and as Ulead do a job of advertising themes as part of the program, I'd like to see an answer from Ulead on this thread or the 2 tickets I have in with tech. support.

From this page:

Movie Wizard
New to video editing? Choose from over 20 themes such as Birthday, Sports, Wedding and more. Then let VideoStudio make your movie for you. The Movie Wizard is ideal if you're never edited video before - it even makes your first edits for you!

Also, this tutorial shows the availability of many themes.[/url]

OK. I'll bow out now. FWIW, for the very first time, I actually opened the Movie Wizard, installed some video, and was then given the choice of some 13 themes. I guess the rest are in the list under 'slideshow'. I have the full boxed disc version, though.

I might just note that there is little point in expecting Ulead to respond to this thread on this Board. In the three years I have been on it, they have hardly ever shown any sign of existence here...

Good luck!!

Thanks anyway Ken.

I believe there is an error in the d/l version and you only get the themes with the boxed version.

Hi forefront

The download version of Video Studio is in several parts.
The main program and extra contents which contain other files.

You should be able to access the Smart Download Manager from VS. (tools – Smart Download……..)

But like Ken I cannot help with this as I also have the Disc version and does not require the extra content and have not experienced the Smart Download process.

Read this posting which contains direct links to the extra files.

forefront,

I have the downloaded version of VS9. I personally don't use the Movie Wizard, but I just pulled it up to see what I get. Like Ken, I get a choice of 13 themes. Are you sure that you downloaded all of the extras? I believe there are a total of 8 files.

Hope this helps,
Ron G.
