Problems with trial version

After installing the Cool3D trial version, I received an error that said it could detect a Direct3D driver. I updated the driver for my ATI Radeon x300, installed the latest DirectX from Microsoft (9.0c) and still got the error.

I uninstalled Cool3D trial and tried to reinstall it then I get an error "The instruction at 0x7c8327f9 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read"

I have checked out the FAQ at http://www.ulead.com/tech/faq/trial_faq.htm#5 and nothing was in the Installshield directory for Cool3D.
