MovieFactory 3.0 snag

Post by rector »

 Help. I received the MovieFactory 3.0 (2005). Have a Dell Demension, with internal graphics. Intel865PE. Great install and was able to input VHS onto computer in minutes. Now for the problem. The video has a slight random hesatation when it enters the computer. I checked the tape...checked the player...watched it play while it loaded into the computer. No hesatation on camcorder but the hesatation in on the computer screen. Is it a memory problem since I have no graphic card. I have Integrated Intel Extreme. Do I have to purcase a graphic card. Should this not work with Intel internal? Any suggestions appreciated, I really like the concept, but need some small fine tune

No, one doesn't need a high power video card to run MF or VS.
I use MF4 and VideoStudio on a machine with a card that has 32Megs of video memory. No problem. I'm runng 1024x768 32bit High Color on
that machine.

The hesitation could be caused by many things.
If there was something wrong with the video card most likely you would
experience problems playing the complete video. Skipping frames, audio
out of sync or windows errors.

Hope this helps,

Have you got DMA access to your hard-drive set (for faster writing).

I contacted Dell, because the instructions tell me to make sure that DMA box is checked. I found no such box, but "Dell" Service tells me it is on all the time. Correct?

What operating system are you using?
What are the hardware specifications of your machine?

I am using XP, Dimension 4600, internal graphics, chipset 865PE.
Dell recommended ATI Radeon 9800 / Best Buy said I could get by with ATI Radeon 9250 with 128 MB. I tend to think it is a hesatation due to memory loading and then passing it on (not too technical a term sorry).
I was told with using internal graphics and not a card this could cause the hesatation.
Does any of this make any sense?

Hi,
How much ram is there on the internal graphics card, do you play games? Do you have the correct XP drivers for the video card?

If you can play dvd's on the computer and they play fine it's not your video card.

But, your not providing enough information.
How fast is your machine (processor?).
How much memory, harddisk(s).

How are you getting the video into your computer?
Do you have a capture card installed and are capturing via the analog video connections or are you capturing straight DV.

Are you connected to the computer via "Firewire" or "USB".
If USB then that is probably the problem. Use Firewire connections.

Your capturing settings may be incorrect.

Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
Processor Speed 2.73 GHz
Memory (RAM) 768 MB
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Operating System Version 5.1.2600

Is this all the info you needed? The connection is direct from the camcorder to computer, not thru USB. I am not sure what the cord is called, but there is a yellow, red, and white. One for video and 2 for sound that connect into card.

Hi,

I would read these informative subjects from this forum(s) before buying a new video card.
