4.0 doesn't recognize the Hauppage capture card
I installed 2.0 Movie Factory SE and it worked fine with my Hauppage WINTV PVR PCI II capture card. I then downloaded the trial version of 4.0 Movie Factory. It worked fine until the 4th time, so I downloaded the full version (bought it, registered it), uninstalled the trial, and now gives me the message, "failed to connect to driver Hauppage WINTV PVR PCI II capture, 13011:3:3". Nothing I do recognizes it but 2.0 still does. I have both versions on the machine. Any advice as to how I get it to see my Hauppage card and driver ?

MovieFactory 4 updates.
The drivers are on the bottom of the page.
Note other posts on this board when installing the full version after
having the trial version installed.

Can't find DVD Movie Factory 4.O?!!!
I was so thrilled to see the previous post with the Haupage driver links, but when I downloaded and ran the patch for tha Haupage DVR USB I got a message that said the installer could not find DVD MovieFactory 4.O -- I can see it! I can open it! IT IS THERE!
First I can't import mps files (still awaiting answer to that one) and now it won't recognize my WinTV! -- And this is freaking day ONE!
How can they release junk like this, and want money for it?!!!

Hauppage Device Support
Interesting, I seem to have the same problem...
Happauge device support install doesn't seem to do anything... no dialogs, no messages, nothing. And, Update Pack 2 has the ....could not find DVD MovieFactory 4.0... problem.
Does anyone know if I can install these upgrades over top of a v4 trial version ?

Update earlier post and progress...
Steve
Thanks for the information. Your tutorial is geared towards the individual who has everything successfully installed and configured, and not the individual (like me) struggling to configure their WinTV-PVR card.

After getting your post, I decide to buy DVD Movie Factory 4.0. And your right, I was then able to apply both the Update Pack 2 as well as the Hauppage Device support patch.
After applying both patches, DVD MovieFactory began to receive incoming video from the Hauppage card (250MCE). Unfortunately, every attempt to capture video resulted in a 'Capture Failed' error message and so I was not able to capture any video. It turns out that similiar errors resulted in other packages like WinTV and SageTV.
After many permutations and combinations of installing Hauppage drivers off their website, I finally gave up and reverted back to the old OEM CDs provided during the purchase... magically they worked and I could capture video within DVD MovieFactory (as well as WinTV).
At this point I'm trying to figure out the differences between the 2 CDs provided with the WinTV-PVR250MCE vs. the 1 CD available on Hauppage's website for MCE support. At this point all I can figure out is the second CD containing all the sample third party applications (like DVD MovieFactory SE) contains additional installation steps needed to properly configure the WinTV-PVR card for use under MCE. These steps are not properly duplicated when peforming standalone installations of these applications.
If I can ever determine the root cause of this problem, I'll make a final post to help others.
