What application are you using and what settings have you used - ALL of them.

It is best if you post your question in the forum dedicated to the particular application you are using - not in this general video forum - more users will see it there and you may get a quicker more experienced answer.

thanks for the reply....

i have 3 different video capture/edit programs on my computer

ulead 9.0, moviestar 5 and windows movie maker and the quality was the same on all 3 programs.

could it be a bad firewire cable?

Could also be your project settings or the tape. Did you record this footage with a camcorder or did you copy it from somewhere else to the Mini DV tape?

Please advise your capture settings and project settings of the editing project in VS 9

Looks like digital pixelation, have you watched this on your tv, does it show up there when played via the minidv player. If it shows there it is in the recording and there is nothing you can do about it, except try a head cleaning tape to see if it is dirty heads causing poor playback and not dirty heads caused poor recording.
