Crash - Windows Server 2003 Woes

Post by dcane »

Friends,

I'm a long long time PI user (since 5) :) Recently we had to upgrade our workstations to W2k3 Server. Ulead 8 (the last I purcahsed) as well as PI11 both crash immedatly after loading an image, clicking the "text" tool, and just about any other action.

I would **love** to get this working. Any ideas how to make this stable on this OS? I would think that some of the 16bit extensions are the culprit, but I'm out of my depth here.

I was able to get it working on a VPC (Virtual PC) running XP, but thats less than ideal.

Thoughts anyone?

Any word or ideas folks? I'm dying here without my PI working -- have to use that *yeck* Photoshop...

Maybe nobody is using your version of OS?

In XP you can run software in "Compatibility Mode", not sure if the Server version can do that. On a different note, I find it odd that you would be forced to run the server OS on a work station??? Servers are a different beast to the ordinary work station.

Sorry I cannot offer any more help.

Thanks for the reply. I'll actaully purcahsed an entire laptop just for PI... I'll mess around with the compat mode and report back.
