output to VHS or TV
Are there options to render a video file to VHS ? What is DV smart play and where is it to be found?

I guess my question is related to this statement found in Help. I just got the software and not yet sure how to approach the direct transfer to VHS:
Ulead VideoStudio's DV SmartPlay feature plays a video project directly from the Timeline out to a DV/D8 camcorder without rendering a movie file. It also lets you view your project on an external TV monitor if your IEEE-1394 capture card supports such monitor connection. While you are viewing your project on a DV/D8 camcorder, you can simultaneously record the project to the videotape by pressing Record on your camcorder.

I suspect that the 'videotape' they refer to is either the DV cassette (if your camera is a mini DV model) or the Digital 8 cassette if you have a (normally Sony) Digital 8 model camera. I have both. The idea is that you can record straight from your timeline project (which is in DV format) to your camera connected via Firewire. But after that, you can transfer that DV or Digital 8 image from your camera to VHS by connecting the camera through its AV-out function and cords to your VCR. I am not sure that the whole operaton can be done in one step (i.e. project to DV/D8 camera to VCR), though I confess I have never tried... I always do it in two steps: first to the camera, then to the VCR.

Actually this is what made it work:
File-> Preferences -> General ->Instant Playback Target -> Preview Window and DV Camcorder
then
Share -> Project Playback -> Entire Project - Finish
The output goes through my digital converter Canopus ADVC 300 either out to TV or VCR. I think it also works with any video capture card that has a Video output.
Unfortunately the documentation lacks the details. There is a delay of about 5 seconds which I think may be intentional to allow the operator push the Recording button on the VCR. And it actually works.
