No audio when inserting DVD clip
I'm trying to insert a DVD clip. The video_ts files are on my harddrive, and when I access them with a DVD player, they play just fine, with audio. But when I bring them into Visual Studio 8, the audio drops off. There is a little audio icon on the thumbnail that shows the start of the video clip in the timeline, which looks promising, but I can't get it to play any sound, even if I try to split the audio out.
Any ideas how I can get the audio in?

How do I get AC-3 decoder
I am also running into this same Dolby audio problem. Can anyone describe how to get a free AC-3 decoder so that I can import dvd clips into VS8. What are the advantages to using the $30 ulead plugin? Thanks

See this thread in the old forums, and the thread linked in it. You can get the free AC-3 filter here.
Just so we are clear on this, all it will let you do is import AC-3 Dolby Digital Audio. You can't create your own DVD projects with AC-3 audio using this filter, you'll need Ulead's plugin for that.

I did some leg work and found the link. For some reason it did not like not having the reference to the board name. Here is the link I had to use.

Free AC3 Filter
I downloaded and installed the free AC3 filter but am not clear on the steps that need to be taken so that VS8 will be able to decode the audio on a DVD.
Can someone please explain what needs to be done?
Thanks

don't know about the free one but with the Ulead one - Nothing - just download and install and it works - play your video in UVS8 again - maybe the free one is the same .
The only time you need to do anything with the Ulead one is when burning a new DVD to select 'Dolby Digital audio' from the options in the burn module.
