I'm a noo and evaluating the software. A problem I am having is that I import a .mov file shot on a Kodak Easyshare camera. When I first drop the clip in, everything is fine. However, if I try to turn the volume down on the clip, the motion on the video stops and it becomes, or behaves in effect, like a still shot. When I installed the trial version, I got a warning screen that basically said that Ulead noticed I had a newer version of QuickTime (no, I didn't write the msg down--should have...)
Wonder if this is a running issue with mov files - I have seen other threads report similar problems but no one has mentioned that the error starts to occur after modifying the sound. And yes, when I put the sound level back to 100, the video started playing, but not consistently. When I burned the dvd (before I read the "how to burn dvd" sticky, there was no sound on that particular clip and it was a still shot.
Any help or directions appreciated,

Hi,
Using a 3 step process I've gotten the .MOV files from my Kodak easyshare camera to convert to Mpeg1 or Mpeg2 using MovieFactory 4 new export feature. It work nice.
I still haven't gotten VS9 to do this. Haven't had time.
The hangup in the file is the frame rate. The .MOV file is 15 frames per second and needs to be properly rendered to the NTSC/PAL framerate.

Let me know how the rendering goes. I can try converting and will do so--i am evaluating Adobe Premier Elements at the same time and want to make fair comparisons. Adobe needs the latest QuickTime (apparently) but thought about dumping QT, reinstalling Ulead, and then reinstall an older version of QT.
Again, the odd part was that the clip played fine the first time. Then stopped playing after messing with the audio.
If I get to testing it, I will post the results of my "study."

The only thing I could think of doing was to dump Quicktime and Ulead and Reinstall Ulead and let it install the older version of QuickTime. The video still hangs up, especially when runnning in project mode. It must be that frame rate issue. I haven't tried converting it - that may solve the problem, but . . . I only have a few evaluation days left. Too bad, I really liked the layout and working environment of Ulead. Not writing it off totally, but I have got to get a working version of things going on.
