It should not suck so much - A short rant

Hello!

PI is a pretty good product. It's far from perfect, but it's feature-rich, not bad thought out and you don't need to fork out your arm and leg to buy it. The problem is that software needs support.

Imagine you buy a car. Lots of cars need only some fluids to work flawlessly for years. But cars also happen to break. Now, imagine there is no service for your car and you have to repair it all by yourself or with your friends...

I know, cars are not software, but the above comparison stays true nonetheless.

Listen, Ulead, customer loyalty is not limitless and there is not infinite support of new clients. If you get a really bad name, you will start to loose seriuos money. And then it may be too late. It would not be the first case.

Had Photoshop Elements 4 had a few more features, I would have switched to both PSE and Premiere Elements already. So you were lucky this time. This may not happen at next upgrade.

So do SOMETHING with your support. I know it requires skilled people and you can't pay them a dime. So add 5 USD, EUR or GBP to your prices if you can't afford additional wages- your products would still be priced competitive.
OR
State straightly that you DO NOT provide support for your products. Be honest at least.

X, with crashing PI11 (TBYB worked OK BTW) and VS9 that requires awkward workflow not to crash, and still has problems anyway...

P.S. Dear Ulead, make some of your personnel at least peek at your forums.

The best way to get their attention is to quit updating PI. That's what I'm going to do. There's not much my current PI version (11) won't do, so the big selling point (now) to me is support, which Adobe seems to understand (and Ulead doesn't.)

And advertise for Ulead -- great price, awful support. :(
