You need to tell us more. If it is too big to fit on a DVD, by how much?I have edited and assemled my movieand now need to split it into 2 parts as it is to big for 1DVD.
How long does you video run for? there are various settings that can be chosen in order to make slight - often undetectable adjustments to picture quality in order to fit more onto one disk.

You could either use a bitrate calculator
http://dvd-hq.info/Calculator.html
or this guide
Using a bitrate of 8000 kbps will get you 60 minutes to a single layer disc.(high quality Dvd)
At 6000 kbps you will get about 90 minute (very good quality dvd)
At 4000 kbps 120 minutes (good quality equivalent to Vhs)
or create the DVD menu etc with VS9 then choose "Fit and Burn"
Another alternative would be to "burn" the DVD to your Hard Drive
(using "create folders") then shrink it with DVD Shrink.
To use the manual bitrate method above
in Video Studio from the Share Tab, select "Create Video File"
"custom"
Make sure that 'Save as type' is MPEG
Options
Compression
Media Type PAL DVD
Video Data Rate - set to whatever your bitrate calculator or the above guide has chosen.
Audio - for PAL you can select either MPEG Audio or Dolby Digital Audio.
1 hour 42 mins - I would go for 4000 kbps this allows a safety margin for space taken up by your DVD Menu. Do a Test "burn to Hard Drive Folder" and if its too big or too small you can always tweak these settings

kliker,
I totally agree with sjj1805 with the exception of one small point. You don't need to do a test "burn to Hard Drive Folder" to see if it'll fit on your disk. Once you've selected the bitrate using the bitrate calculator go to Share/Create Disk at just look at the bar at the bottom of the screen (seen during the first two screens). You'll notice that the size will change if you add/subtract the motion menu etc.
Also, if you use this method don't render (Create Video) first like the "Recommended Procedure" says to do because your movie will get re-rendered yet again which means another hour and 42 minutes wait. Here's how I recommend the you go through the steps:
1. Use the bitrate calculator to determine bitrate.
2. Go to Share/Create Disk and use sjj1805s instructions:

3. Go to the menu screen and just make sure that your video will fit with menu options you want. If it does - good! Now click Close.
4. Now go to Create Video File and using sjj1805 instruction's create the video. Don't forget to choose the right audio codec and bitrate (Dolby Digital 192kbps).
5. Now you can use the Burn DVD Phase from the Recommended Procedure:
Hope this helps,
Ron G.

NOTE: I'd recommend that you use Dolby Digital at 192kbps. It has a better compression rate and you'll get to use a higher bitrate for your video which means better quality. To use the manual bitrate method above
in Video Studio from the Share Tab, select "Create Video File"
"custom"
Make sure that 'Save as type' is MPEG

That's it!Burn DVD Phase
Caution: Never try to Create a DVD with anything in the timeline. Do not use the SHARE/Create Disk/Add Project control option.
1. Select NEW project.
2. If you are in PAL country, Select FILE/Project Properties/Edit/Compression tab select Media Type = PAL DVD.
3. Select SHARE/Create Disc
4. Press Add Video. Navigate to select your new Mpeg video file. It will appear in the lower display
5. Click the little Gear-Shaped icon on the lower left, second to the right
6. Press "Change Mpeg Settings", then press "Customize," then the "Compression" tab.
7. Media Type should already be selected. Push the quality slider to 100%.
8. Set every other property to match the properties of your Project Video File.
9. Now press Add/Edit Chapters and use the jog bar set up your DVD Menu entry points.
10. Press Next. Now edit your DVD Menu labels, choosing each one from the selector at the top.
11. Optional Step: You can save all this by pressing "Close". Select FILE/SaveAs and name this project "BURN Project" or something like that. Then press SHARE/Create Disc again, and everything should still be there.
12. Skip to the last screen, Check Record to Disk.
13. Verify the Required vs. Available disc space.
14. Hit the Output button. Burning should take about 30 minutes at 4x
15. If you see a message that says "Converting Videos, This will take a long time..." hit the Cancel button and check for the following problems (1) Burn properties do not match Video File properties, (2) Timeline display is not empty, or (3) You have used the Add Project control.
Hope this helps,
Ron G.
