Duel Layer
I am having a playback problem with DVD+R and DVD-R dual layer DVDs. They stop halfway and freeze. They will not switch to the other layer. I'm using DVD Workshop 2.32 with the latest upgrade. Is anyone being successful using dual layer DVDs? Are there any adjustments I could be using? Any suggestions?
I like your Freudian slip in your Subject title. I didn't think it was that much of a fight
I've burnt only one DL, and it was OK. However, I'm surprised at your mentioning DVD-R DLs. I had one supplier who was offering them, but he withdrew them a year ago. The only ones available here are +Rs with a max burn speed of 2.4 x (I've both Memorex and Verbatim here in stock; they look rigorously identical, even to their jewel cases, other than the names on them).
However, have you the latest firmware for your burner? This may be very important.
I assume you let the software choose its chageover.

Does this happen when you play-back the DVD in your Pioneer burner-drive? Or, is it with your stand-alone player? Some (most?) stand-alone players can't play "burned" dual layer discs.

I've got a similar problem in that my DL-burned discs look like they're indexing to the correct point on the media, but they're playing layer 0 instead of layer 1. (My stand-alone Sony player will display the layer along with the laser position). Funnier thing is, my NEC3500A DL burner that I used to make the disc does the same thing! Got the latest firmware in the burner and the DVDWS2 DL patch.
