DVD MovieFactory 4.2 Upgrade to 4.4

Post by DSHolloway »

Is DVD MovieFactory 4.2 a plug-in of Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8? I cannot see it on the Desktop as a separate short cut Icon as it was under the previous edition of Pro 7 and I cannot find see how it can be updated if new versions become available. Please help. I know that it is available as a separate software as version 4.

DVD MovieFactory and MediaStudio are completely different programs with separate updates.

DVD MovieFactory 4.2

Post by DSHolloway »

I thought it was a separate program. However, when MediaStudio Pro 8 was loaded on my computer DVD MovieFactory was placed in a different directory area to that of Pro 8. In the previous edition of MediaStudio the DVD MovieFactory showed on the Desk top as a separate icon and could be activated as a separate program. Now it seems that it can only be activated while in MediaStudio Pro 8, Video Editor, when one selects: Export, DVD Authoring! Am I missing something?

PS: Think I have solved it with a question raised and answered in MediaStudio Pro although am puzzeld by a Ulead e-mail re: update for DVD MovieFactory 4 to 4.04? The issue of MovieFactory with my MediaStudio Pro 8 is 4.2 so where does 4.04 fit in?

The copy of DVD Movie Factory 4 that comes with Media Studio 8 is not the full version of Movie Factory 4. It is a whittled down version to enable users of Media Studio 8 who do not have any other DVD Authoring tools to be able to create a DVD.

Media Studio 8 is essentially a video EDITOR ie to chop up and piece together a video and to include various effects such as transitions, picture in picture, special effects etc.

Movie Factory 4 is essentially a DVD Authoring tool to take a previously edited video and convert it into a menu driven DVD.

The whittled down Media Studio version has no editing functions - why would you need them if you have Media Studio 8?

The Full version of Movie Factory is like Media Studio in reverse. It is a DVD Authoring program with whittled down editing facilities.

You can launch the Media Studio 8 version of Movie Factory 4 by creating the following shortcut:
"C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0\DVD Authoring\DVDMF.exe"

Thanks to all that responded, certainly clarrified the functions of the MF included with Media Studio Pro8 and that of the stand alone version. Still not sure that I understand whether the latest e-mail update of 4.02 applies to my version or not. It is not made all that clear in the e-mail, or maybe it is me!

Looking at the Ulead website. There are no updates for MediaStudio Pro 8 and for version 7 there are 3 updates.

DVD MovieFactory 4.2 & MediaStudio Pro 8 Plug-in MPG 4

Post by DSHolloway »

Did not make myself clear, the Ulead e-mail refered to a Product Update for DVD MovieFactory 4, Update Pack 2, Release Date 2005/11/25. On another tack but related, Ulead recently sent out a product listing for a Media Studio Pro 8 plug-in software for MPG 4. I unfortunately deleted the listing and have been searching their web site to get back more details but with no success. Have also e-mailed Ulead who failed to reply even though I was trying to purchase this sofware. Have found Ulead somewhat lacking in responding to enquiries. Anybody out there know anything about this plug-in?
